1:10 pm - What a surprise - kids don't make a marriage better!

The gist of the article is that a recent survey revealed more couples feel like sharing household chores makes a partnership work more than having kids.

What a shocker!

5:25 pm - It's that time of year again...

Happy Valentines Day, my wonderful yet quiet community!

-with love from your slightly swamped with work moderator!

P.S. Wedding update: The date is set for March 20th. Not long now! We avoided the whole telling people to leave kids at home by not inviting anyone who has any! I will post photos afterwards. Take care, everybody!

Hi, everyone. Just thought I'd poke my head in as yet another member of a CF couple. My name's Kayleigh, I'm 19, and my boyfriend Tristain is 22. We've been together a little more than two years now. I'm disabled(quadriplegic) as a result of a diving accident, and after seeing how much stronger Tristain and I have become since then, and how much he's proven he cares for me, I DARE anyone to tell us that we need a kid to somehow prove our love. We were both committed to not having kids before my injury, and you'd think that my condition would put an end to bingoing, but no such luck. Some people apparently still think that a girl who's paralyzed from the neck down should still have kids. No doubt they'd be little "miracles" or something. No thank you. Tristain and I have come out of one life changing disaster intact. No need to try for two.

I included a pic of me and my boy, if you're interested.

11:30 am - Hi! *waves from Lurkerville*

Been lurking here for a bit now. Thought I would intro myself.

My boy and I got engaged this summer and are getting married in 3.5 weeks. He and I are both blissfully childfree. We agree that we are a couple, 2 people, and should one of us find Jeebus or get bit with Baby-Rabies, then the other one gets everything and can leave with no problems. This relationship is not big enough for 3 people. I have been getting a few kiddie questions from my friends and I keep saying the same thing. It's getting tiring that they won't stop.

We have been Long Distance since we got together in Jan 2004. He lives in Australia and I live in Hong Kong. It's been tough, but it works. After this year, once I am married, I am hoping someone will be able to make the move easier to the other's place of residence. Just not sure who yet....

So, from me and my wonderfully childfree soon-to-be hubby.... HI!

bumperfish greetings! my boyfriend (49) and i (37) have been together for 2.5+ years and living together for 1 year...

i'm looking for other CF couples who have been together long term to discuss the ups and downs and ups again of a CF relationship. we've found ourselves rather disconnected the last couple of months and are trying very hard to reconnect. luckily we don't have the pressures of children or parenthood bogging us down or adding to the stress, but nevertheless, there has been a lot of stress contributing to this fallout of sorts and we are working to get back on track and let the dust settle. this is an otherwise healthy happy relationship... but i don't have any CF couples in my real life to discuss this kind of thing with... and if i do try to discuss adult relationships with my childed friends, the conversation usually ends up talking about *their* children...(go figure...)

if there is anyone out there who'd like to chat, please let me know. we can do it via email or in my journal.

Hey guys. You've probably all noticed that cf_hardcore has been deleted. I shall not speculate as to why this has happened because I'm on UK time and missed whatever might have caused it, and empty speculation gets us nowhere. But anyway, feel free to use this community to rant if you'd like, just keep it civil towards other members please! :)

In other news, I don't think I posted it here, but my fiance is finally seedless. He got both tests back negative. Yay. Unfortunately, though, we've had to push back wedding plans. It's getting rather annoying. I feel like if I can find a way to stay in the country without having to do all this wedding paper work it would be worth it, but it is unbelievably one of the easier options for getting into the country. Unfortunately somehow it's turning into a bigger deal than I previously expected and we won't be able to afford anything too big before my visa runs out. I want to go back to the quick and cheap option but his mum is really keen on us doing a big thing. I just don't know if whatever I plan is going to upset people because it's not a church, white dress, flowers kind of thing. People have all these expectations and I don't want to disappoint, but at the end of the day it's OUR wedding, not theirs. But I will not budge on the "no children" rule. For anyone. No-one under 18. So there. If you can't drink (for age reasons) you can't come. :)

12:54 pm - MY CF wedding (and marriage)

I swear I'm not whoring for attention (well, maybe a little), but I just wanted to share with all you awesome people that yesterday was my wedding day! The youngest person present at our ceremony/reception was my almost-17 year old brother! And my new husband is a wonderful CF chef!! :-D

2:46 pm - Sort-of Introduction

I've been a member of this community for a few months, but haven't actually posted. My boyfriend and I are 25 years old and have been dating for 9.5 years with no intention of getting married at this point. In fact, we're this close *holds fingers very close together* to doing something as far from getting married as possible (without, you know, breaking up or hating each other in stony silence).

Some Guy (for that is the Super Secret Internet Name that I have given him) was offered a promotion at work, with the wee little catch that it would involve moving to the east coast. I have no intention of quitting my job and following him out there, so we'll see how long we can maintain a long-distance relationship.

We were going to commence Living in Sin this fall, but hey... living 1400 miles apart works too.

At least we don't have any kids to muck things up. :^)

11:55 am - Newbie

I joined a few days ago but didn't post an intro until now. I surfed on in from another CF community. My name is Ashley, I'm 22, and I'll be a college graduate in less than 3 weeks! I'm getting married on July 13th to my middle and high school sweetheart, Jim...our wedding day is also our 8 and a half year anniversary. Children annoy us, and we're broke enough already, thank you very much, so no brats for us! Jim graduated from culinary arts school in December and is now working as a chef (and what a good one he is!). I am a full-time student (my B.A. is in history and philosophy) finishing my undergrad degree. I start a graduate program in August (M.A. in history). I plan to accumulate as many degrees as I possibly can! Here's a picture of Jim with our "child," a sable Teddy Bear hamster named Petit Four:

*Carefully checks where I'm posting to...*

... Okay, I think this is you guys! I just posted a previous version of this to my entire friends list, which, if you read on, you'll see why it was a TAD bit embarassing!

So, tomorrow is the big day! The vasectomy counselling session plus hopefully the vasectomy itself if we manage to convince the doctor of our complete, total, and permanent loathing of children!

We're both very excited, and I think it's quite romantic of us, really - commiting to each other and a lack of babies all in just a few months! Hooray for my gorgeous, smart, lovable/loving CF boy! *gush gush*

Okay. I'm going to check once again that this is going to my community and NOT all of my friends, family, and random internet acquaintences... yep! Okay. Bye!

12:26 pm - Hooray for another cf community...

So instead of cleaning the apartment like I'm supposed to be doing today, here I am joining new childfree communities. :P

I found this place through a post in cf_hardcore. Luckily I looked through the comments to that post- I almost created a similar community myself. Now I don't have to! Yay!

Anyway, here's a bit about me, including a picture. Hooray for eljay cuts!Collapse )

6:29 pm - Awesome.

Just joined after seeing this community posted on cf_hardcore. I've been in a steady relationship with the man of my dreams and we plan on getting married after he gets his teaching degree and finds a steady job. We both know that having children is not for us, but we're both really excited about the day when we can begin spending our lives together as a couple.

So anyway, yeah.
Came here from a different CF community, and I'm glad this one exists. I think it will be a great resource for cf couplehood advice and things.

7:44 am - conspicuous overconsumption!!!

Hey there! In response to my picture post, one member pointed my towards this Salon.com article. You should check it out. It talks about the unscrupulous practices of the de Beers company, who essentially have a monopoly on the diamond industry and shaped the modern obsession with diamond rings. I know it's not really childfree relevant, but as people who pride themselves in making different life choices, I thought you might appreciate it! I know it confirmed a lot of my suspicions about the diamond industry.

It's so terrible the way corporations convince us to buy all this stuff we don't need based on "norms". *she says, eating the ears off her chocolate easter bunny* Yeah, I'm a hypocrite. So what? Chocolate is tasty. :)

They also had an article on salon.com about Brittney Spears' baby having a cracked skull. I didn't read it, but then again it wasn't terribly suprising.

10:23 am - Hi again!

Big picture post! Here are some recent pictures of me and my partner. (I'm the female one.) And, as requested, the ring!

Pics under cutCollapse )

So anyway, we had a great time in America and are possibly even more cute and cuddly now, which we thought was nearly impossible!

9:30 am - Is anyone there?

Hey, sorry it's been a bit quiet in here! I've been busy with school and just got back from visiting my parents in Seattle. But anyway, good news! My gorgeous, wonderful partner proposed to me on top of the Space Needle at sunset! It was really sweet. I'm glad he did it in my home town - that was nice - and the setting couldn't have been more beautiful. I didn't really want him to make a big deal about it or anything, but it was sweet. No kneeling or anything. It was perfect. The ring is a really pretty one we picked out together. It's a really small labradorite stone (looks sort of like moonstone, in case you wondered), set in a celtic-ish silver band. It's really pretty, and was on sale for 14 pounds! Thrifty and beautiful! Anyway, so I'm officially engaged to be married now, and the vasectomy is coming up soon, so good news all around!

I hope you guys are all doing well! Don't forget to post every once in a while! :)

4:22 pm - Hello!

Here's a wedding photo of Matt and I. We got married July 26/05, and so far don't have any furbabies, it's just the two of us. I love the fact that he hates small children, and in fact it was one of the things we talked about when we first met.

(Oh, and the orange flower was *not* his idea)

He has a few issues that we're working though right now, but we have a stable marriage that's not missing anything. He's all mine and I wouldn't have it any other way. :)

6:52 pm - Welcome!

Hi! Welcome to cf_love. I am the first mod for this community, and I created it because I am insanely in love with my partner and wanted to tell the world, but every relationship community I looked at was full of people talking about looking forward to having children, or posting pictures of their already existing children. I also think some of the people in childfree communities get a little tired of those of us who are in relationships going on about our partners, how gorgeous they are, and how much it rocks that he/she is getting snipped/doesn't want to adopt, what have you.

And thus was born cf_love! I've tried to be inclusive of diverse situations here, since I know we are definitely not all heterosexual and planning to get married here. If you feel like I've left out your situation but you are CF and in a commited relationship

Let me kick things off by gushing about my awesome CF love!Collapse )

Despite what our parents may say, true love means never having to say "I'm pregnant." :D
